Aquatic Analysts, Inc. has an expert
phytoplankton taxonomist on it's staff to assist our clients in the
accurate identification of problem alga in their pond or lake.
Recording the changes in algal communities is an important lake
management tool because algae are sensitive indicators of
pollution.

Microscopic analysis is a major component of our water
quality monitoring program to assess the seasonal fluctuation of algal
populations and predict potential bloom problems. AAI will collect
the water sample, or it may be collected by the client and delivered or
mailed to our laboratory. Using Utermohl settling chambers, the
dominant species will be identified and enumerated. The results
are reported as cells/ml or biovolume (mg/m3).
