Fisheries Management

Aquatic Analysts, Inc. will manage your lake's fishery to optimize its recreational potential and assist in stocking efforts.

The purpose of a fish survey is to establish baseline data by determining the characteristics of the existing fish populations in a lake and to compare these results with those of any previous surveys.

A fisheries management program requires an understanding of water quality, habitat requirements and food web dynamics.  Aquatic Analysts, Inc. uses electrofishing and gill netting techniques.  Electrofishing is conducted from a boat (Boston Whaler) equipped with a portable generator along a series of sampling transects in both shallow and deep areas of the lake.  At the same time, gill nets are placed in different locations throughout the lake.  Fish collected by electro-shocking and gill net techniques are identified, weighed, measured and returned to the lake.
